Is now 21

Fri Nov 27, 2009, 10:26 AM
Well yesturday I officially turned 21, um, yay? Had a great time, went bowling the day before as mum had to work yesturday and also got some pressies form the 'rents, guess how many I got...21, Yeah 21 pressies, most were little things like food and clothes, all of which were wrapped individually (Mum had got me 6 pairs of socks and actually wrapped each pair individually so there was 6 pressies there alone). My sibs got me some chocolate and a huge badge which I wore when we went out to dinner with some other family members, 3 course dinner was awesome. All my other relatives gave my cash and I have a total of £105 to spend ( £10 of which is in the form of GAME gift card, my 'rents know me well enough to know what I would spend the money on). The main thing I wanna get is New Super Mario Bros Wii but can't spend any of the money till after christmas seeing as I dunno what I'm getting for christmas yet. Not that I'm complaining, it means I can add any christmas money to the birthday money and go on a huge gaming spending spree. But yeah, birthday was awesome, especially when they played the happy birthday song in the restaurant and one of the staff brought over a cake which my aunt brought as well as a fruit cocktail (which had some vodka in it and it was surprisingly nice). I also got one of those huge '21' keys that you find in card shops and theres a '21' balloon currently floating around my bedroom ceiling which supposedly lasts a 1-2 weeks we'll see. Birthday was great anyway.

And to make things even better I got next week off work. Woo Hoo!

RIP Uncle (death rate is certainly high this year)

Thu Oct 15, 2009, 2:15 PM
As the title suggests, one of my uncles (second uncle to be precise) passed away. He was old, had been very ill the last couple of years and ended up with alzhiemers, he was put in a care home not long after christmas last year so he could be looked after. Died of a heart attack a couple of days a go. Only slightly affected to be honest as I'd rarely seen him since he'd lived far away. In fact, the last time I saw him my brother didn't even exist and his 11 now so it must have been a long time a go. Doesn't make it any less tragic though but it's my aunt I really feel sorry for, she'd lost her husband 5 years a go, lost her sister (my nan) 3 years a go and now she's lost her brother and she doesn't have much family left now :( This makes the fourth death in our family in the last few years. Two of which were this year. In fact theres been quite a lot of deaths this year, not just from my fam but theres also some friends of the family who have died this year and theres also been a high amount of well-known celebrities who have died this year (most notabley, Micheal Jackson). The death toll this year has definately been high, let's hope we don't hear of any more deaths before the end of the year.

Road Rant and a personal concern

Sat Oct 10, 2009, 3:15 PM
This weeks has just been total chaos road-wise.

Firstly, on Monday while out shopping I saw a bus nearly collide with a car as it was coming out the bus station, it was the cars fault though as it was speeding, eager to get home I expect.

On Tuesday me and my fam were heading back home from the crematorium (the day marked 3 years since Nan died) and got caught in a traffic jam as some railway barriers were down to let trains pass. A van in the lane next to us clearly couldn't be bothered to wait and tried reversing out, but being such a narrow road it couldn't so drove forward again, very close to us and as it passed, knocked the wing mirror on our car. Dad got straight out the car to investigate but luckily, only the casing and come off and he was able to fix it, which was lucky because my Dad would have started a loud argument with the van driver (who'd came straight over and apologised)and that would have been really embarrassing given how many people were around, plus theres the fact that my Dad seems to like to swear in every sentence, especially when he's pissed off. So yeah, narrow escape there, literally.

Thursday, I was walking to the bus stop to catch the bus to work and saw this motorbike that was leaving the nearby garage almost hit a car that was going in. Luckily the car had only clipped the bike but if either of them had been going any faster it could have been much worse.

And finally, last night I was walking home from work, some guy was waiting by the traffic lights, and at the same time a car driving along, saw the lights go orange but couldn't be arsed to wait so had decided to speed up and get past them before they turned red. The guy waiting had probably expected him to stop so just crossed. As a result the car had hit him, he rolled up the front bonnet of the car back down again. Luckily he didn't seem that hurt as he'd got up and moved to the pavement but what I found most horrible was that the driver did nothing, in fact, he shouted abuse at the guy for "not looking where he's going". It was the cars fault for trying to speed past traffic lights, they are there for a reason. I also bet it was also probably because there was nobody around (after all it was nearly midnight)if it was daytime he would have either stopped at the lights.

So yeah, roads are getting so dangerous these days, I bet it's because there are too many teenagers on the road, I personally think they should bring the minimum age up.

On a different note I'm getting very concerned about my other grandmother, lately she's becoming..well... ill, forgetful and careless. Not just things like forgetting where she put something or forgetting to buy something but things people would normally remember. She thinks she hasn't watched programmes she did actually watch, she's been buying food she already has tonnes of as shes been forgetting she still has some, a few times shes forgotten to turn the lights out at night, sometimes she's gone to do some chores, forgetting that she'd already done them earlier that day or the day before and once she'd left the PC on all night. It does seem to me like she's showing some signs of alzheimers or dementia. Along with that she's also been suffering from severe stomach pains lately which she said comes and goes, everyone else thinks it's trapped wind but she's too stubborn to see a doctor (that and she rarely goes out the house, my grandfather usually does everything). Naturally, me and the rest of the fam have been concerned but then something happed a couple of nights a go that's making everyone really worry...
She was cleaning the gas cooker and as she was finishing, had accidently knocked a handle round and turned on one of the hobs, somehow she hadn't noticed. So that night just before going to bed she'd heard hissing but couldn't work out where it was coming from so just went to bed (she has this nose infection and can't smell anything so wouldn't have smelt the gas). At that same time my grandad was doing a night shift at work and didn't get home till early next morning and of course, the place really reeked of gas then so he had to quickly open the windows (it turns out the hobs handle is faulty as all the others have to pushed in and turned, this one didn't). It was really scary as she could've blown herself up O_O plus her house is adjoined to two others so theres no telling what could have happened, in fact I'm amazed the place didn't go up when she turned the lights out the night before. It's freaked everyone out, me included.
